Detail itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Chennai.

Upon arrival Chennai in the morning, meeting & assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Chennai visiting the Museum to see the Art Gallery. Drive throught the flower fruit Market, High Court, Fort Museum, Marina Beach,Santhome Cathedral and Snake Park. After sightseeing return to hotel and take rest.

Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02: Chennai – Kanchipuram/Mahabalipuram.(70 Kms/02 hrs. drive approx).

After breakfast, proceed to drive for Mahabalipuram enroute visiting Kanchipuram. On reaching Mahabalipuram check-in at Hotel. Afternoon tour of Mahabalipuram including visit to Shore Temples – the World Heritage site.

Overnight stay at hotel.


Day 03: Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry (132 Kms/ 3.30 hrs. drive approx).

After breakfast, proceed to drive to Pondicherry and check-in at hotel. Afternoon tour of Pondicherry including visit to Auroville.

Day 04: Pondicherry – Tanjore  – Trichy (243 Kms/ 06 hrs. drive approx).

After leisure breakfast, proceed to drive for Trichy enroute visiting Tanjore – The home of Carnatic music, musical instruments, dance and traditional handicrafts, Tanjore (Thanjavur) is famous for the Brihadeeswarar temple. The temple constructed more than a thousand years ago by the Chola King Raja Rajan is an architect’s marvel. The Art Gallery and the Saraswathi Mahal Library are also well known places of interest. On reaching Trichy, check-in at Hotel. Trichy  which was occupied by Chola and Pallava Dynasties. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Trichi visiting Rock Fort Temple (is a landmark of Trichy) with a Ganesh Temple on the top of this rock also contains excavated cave temples dating to the 7th century A.D. which is famous for the fine sculptures, a climb up its stone to the Hall of a hundred pillars. Visit the island of Srirangam – surrounded by the Kaveri water is a 600 acre island town enclosed within the seven walls on the gigantic Sri Ranganathaswami Vishnu temple. There are no less than 22 gopurams, one of which is the tallest in India and 72 m high 13 tiered gopuram dominates the landscape for miles around.

Day 05: Trichy  – Madurai (142 Kms/ 3.30 hrs. drive approx).

After breakfast, drive towards Madurai & upon arrival check in at hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Madurai – known as Athens of the East, it is said to be as second largest city on the banks of the River Vigai. Madurai is said to be as more than 2500 Years old city which got its name from the drops of nectar (Mathuram) that fell from Shiva’s locs when he came to bless people for constructing temple. People who stay in this city wakes up at the chant of hymns and are proud of the magnificent ‘Meenakshi-Sundareswara Temple.The 48.8 m high southern gopuram is the most spectacular and have over 1500 sculptures. In the Ashta Shakti Mandapam inside the Meenakshi temple, the sculpted pillars tell the story of the beautiful princess of Madurai and her marriage to Lord Shiva. You may visit Teppakulam, a tank with an island temple, Tirumalainaik palace, 1000 pillared hall & the Sri Meenakshi Temple – a World Heritage Site. Evening witness Prayer Ceremony at the Meenakshi Temple.

Day 06: Madurai  –  Kovalam Beach (270 Kms/ 06 hrs. drive approx).

After breakfast proceed towards Kovalam- where the world famous beach is located and it is popularly known as “Paradise of South”. On reaching Kovalam check-in at hotel. Rest of the day at leisure or go for ‘ God’s own Country’s most popular Ayurveda Rejuvenation Treatments/ Massages.

Day 07: In Kovalam.

After leisure breakfast full day at leisure with ‘Optional’ day return trip to Kanyakumari with enroute visit Padmanbha temple or go for Ayurveda Rejuvenation Treatments/ Massages. Kanyakumari (Cape Comorin) -situated 87 km away from Thiruvananthapuram, which is located at a junction at the southernmost tip of India where in the three water bodies, namely, Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean meet. From here, one can see the sun rise from the Bay of Bengal and set in the Arabian Sea. Take motor launch for visit to Vivekananda Memorial, Gandhi Mandapa & Kanyakumari Temple – a holy place for Hindus. While going to Cape Comorin, on the way visit the Padmanabhapuram Palace.

Day 08: Kovalam – Alleppey Houseboat (175 Kms/4.30 hrs. drive approx).

After breakfast, drive to Alleppey is one of the most important tourist centers in the state, with a large network of inland canals earning it the sobriquet “Venice of the east”. These large network of canals provide Alleppey its lifeline. Alleppey is said to be as one of the busiest centers of trade in the past with one of the best known ports along the Malabar coast. Board Kettuvallam (Houseboat) for overnight cruise across the backwaters. The luxuriously furnished Kettuvallam is made entirely of jackwood planks tied (kettu) together with strong coir rope to form a huge barge(vallam). The boat is constructed without using a single nail and is coated with a special resin obtained from boiling cashew kernels. Each masterpiece of intricate craftsmanship, the ‘Kettuvallam’ lasts, not for years, but for generations. Each House boat has furnished bedrooms (1 to 5 rooms AC or Non AC), modern toilets, cozy living rooms, a kitchen and even a balcony for angling, an open lounge and a crew comprising of an oarsmen,a cook and guide. During the cruise on Kettuvalam, have a glimpse of the village life at close quarters, an unique and unforgettable experience. Enroute you can see many beauty of the nature which will remind you that you are in the “God’s Own Country”. You can view coconut palm fringed canals and local people going for a fresh catch of the day & Tapping of toddy (Local beverages) from palm trees. Enjoy the sunset from House boat.

Day 09: Houseboat/Kumarakom – Thekkady. (120 Kms/03 hrs. drive approx).

– Morning after breakfast disembark from the Houseboat in Kumarokam at 09.30 hrs. & drive towards Periyar with stops on way to see various Spice Plantation. On reaching Thekkady, check in at the hotel. Afternoon game viewing cruise on the Lake Periyar by boat with naturalist. The variety of wildlife, which include monkey, elephants, wild boar, deer and very rarely, a Tiger. Quite a lot of unique birds can also be spotted in Thekkady.

Day 10: Thekkady –  Kochi ( 160 Klm/03 hrs. drive approx).

After leisure breakfast check out of the hotel and drive to Cochin airport to connect flight for onward journey with happy memories.
